Technically he did win the million. The way the game works is when it's the final two cases, they ask you if you want to swap and then they open the case? you want FIRST to see what you won. So when he says "No deal...case 13" and they open it first it's like he unintentionally chose to swap his case for case 13.

well they also ...
well they also incorporate the usefulness in the situation. for example, 90k and 1 mil both go A LOT farther than 5 bucks. so if it was something like 5 dolalrs and 1 mil, the deal would be A LOT more unfair? (hence th e90k) because people usually need money and that encourages them to take the deal. likewise, if its something like 250k-1 mil, people wouldnt feel the need to rely on the deal since they cld still get 250k, so the deal is a lot more in their favor.
